Release Your Inner Passion

Creator's Corner

Although I'm not Irish, I celebrate their holiday with tradition.  Let's face it, you don't have to be Irish to dance and drink.  Many Americans celebrate this holiday by doing just that, but do many know WHY we celebrate it by drinking green beer and eating cabbage?  Take a moment to learn the history of this wonderful Irish holiday in our OUT & ABOUT section. I believe knowing why we celebrate a holiday makes it even more honorable in celebrating it.  I think it is our duty to use this magazine not only to bring the life of IMVU to our readers, but also to educate them on serious issues of real life.  Reading is the only means of education for many and this will give us our time to share with you the thoughts of St. Patrick's Day through history, entertainment, and IMVU life.

To those that are Irish, Happy St. Patrick's Day.  To those that aren't, drink, be merry and be safe this Irish holiday.

V.P.'s Viewpoints & Visions

Good Ole Irish Luck. That's the whole modern basis of St Patrick's Day. But what exactly is Luck? Let's take a look.

Dictionary.com has several definitions for luck, all pretty much pointing toward the same meaning. Just to list a couple:

1. the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person's life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities:

2. good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance.

I personally don't believe in luck. It's all a matter of viewpoint, though it is very hard to bring myself away from using one of the most commonly used phrases in America and possibly the world. No matter what the situation... it's always there. Wishing someone "good luck", referring to your own luck or the luck of others (good or bad). So how did this little verbal entity become so commonly used? I've heard it began as a way of worshiping an Egyptian god/goddess. I've also
heard it originated from the Irish, as most of us give acclamation to because of St Patrick's day. I have searched the internet for the origin of the word/phrase, but I get something different with each website I visit.

So I guess we'll never truly know the origin "Luck" but I do know this... Luck is all a matter of how we perceive things. If you look at life with a negative perspective, it's going to always seem like you have the worst "luck". However, if you look at life with a positive perspective you'll either believe that you have good luck, or you'll be like me and believe that life is what you make of it. So go out there and make your life what you want it to be. For those of you who need it however, I wish you Good Luck in all your endeavors!
